Track review of the day
I wanted to recommend music through here and figured I would write some sort reviews of songs worth checking out. My hopes are the song will reach someone and they will decide to download the album. So here is the first one, hope you enjoy.
St Vincent: The Strangers.
The album Actor opens with The Strangers, a song reminiscent of Marry Me (St. Vincent’s first album) with its ethereal vocals and contagious chorus. (“Paint the black hole blacker”) St. Vincent prepped for this album by scoring scenes to films as an exercise in writing/composing and this particular track has the feel of a Disney soundtrack instrumentally until the crunching/fuzzy guitars come in and compete madly with the angelic background vocals. This mixture of opposites works quite well for St. Vincent. This track would not be out of place on Marry Me but fits the darker theme that Actor evokes a lot better in my opinion. If you enjoy dirty guitar sounds and very experimental but accessible music, be sure to check out Actor by St. Vincent; however I should mention that I enjoy her first album, Marry Me just as much, if not more.

happy thursday..?
so we haven't blogged since sunday, and i for one am terribly sorry about that, but we've been very busy. and by that i do mean lazy. BUT, we have made a photobucket account to post our concert pictures and such, and i will be putting a link to it on here soon, when it's all finished and pretty. :)
exciting things:
on saturday we're going on a roadtrip to athens, georgia! i know it doesn't sound too exciting, but athens is a pretty fancy place, and also the city where someone whom i look up to very dearly lives. yes, kevin barnes. although i won't be searching out for his home (i'm not thaaat crazy), i will be attending an art show. and, well, the art show is for his wife nina and his brother david. but it's gonna be super fantastic, and hopefully i'm not too awkward.
then the next morning we will awaken for another day of driving, when we head down to savannah for the day. i hear it's pretty haunted, so that should be cool. but mostly scary. anyways, the night we're in savannah we're going to see edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros at the trustee's theater! so expect pictures from that, when we post the photobucket link.
today i also purchased my ticket for the deluna festival in pensacola. they are announcing their 3 headliners, and about 5 supporting artists in the upcoming week, so i'm pretty excited! i can only hope they get a ton of people i really love. it seems highly unlikely, but i really hope they get someone like MGMT. their calendar is free for that time period, so i'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed!
because it's been so long since the last post, there might possibly be another one later if andrew decides to say some hello's to you. :) but goodbye for now!

Happy Birth of Geraldo Rivera!
Ok, so me and loryn decided earlier that we will rewrite the song Flux by Bloc Party.
So far I think we have a pretty epic chorus replacement.
"We were hoping for some Rogaine, all we found was more loose hairs."
I'm thinking we could finally tap into that follically challenged market for Bloc Party and maybe create a new jingle for Rogaine at the same time. See you guys later :)

burritos and some beans and rice
okay so basically, fye was pure failure. two full bags of cd's, and they take about 8 or 9. it still gave us $37 to spend though, which is obviously preeeeeeetty cool. i got grand by matt & kim, and andrew got up from below by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros. and choosing those came after we had spent over an hour being indecisive. i still have money on the card, and i'll probably spend it at a different fye, since that one is pretty shitty. we went to best buy afterwards because we wanted to buy beach house's cd, but then we ended up with blackstar and kid cudi cd's. it's all good, though. :)
so tomorrow is the islands show, and i'm hoping it'll be pretty cool. i'm sure it will be, though. they have a video with michael cera, so they're obviously cool.
okay well it's 1:30 so i guess this is goodnight. goodnight!
oh, and my blueberry waffles at waffle house were totally awesome. andrew says his chocolate chip waffles were mucho satisfactory as well.

Summer jams
This may be the first of two blog posts today because we are hoping to strike big store credit wise at FYE later when we take loryn's crap cds later and hopefully we can get some free cds out of it. Anyways I figured I would post some very catchy (relatively) new songs today that me and loryn have been loving this summer. Please feel free to check some out and give these songs a shot, they are worth it! Plus nothing is more satisfying than finding new music you like to replace all the stuff you have been playing non-stop. ;)
Janelle MonĂ¡e- Tightrope
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros- Home
Local Natives- Wide Eyes
and a really good local band from Mobile, Alabama
El Cantador- Glean
We are probably going to check out the band Islands from Canada tomorrow night, so hopefully we will have some nice pics to share from that show as well as the pics from the concerts we have already attended this year. That's it for now, see you guys later.

An introduction of sorts...
Okay so we have decided to start this blog so we can share our feelings on music or whatever piques our interest. Though I assume music will be what piques our interest the majority of the time...Well more specifically Kevin Barnes' godlike abilities if Loryn is the one who happens to be typing. Anyways let's skip to the introductions.
Andrew: Hello FRIENDS! haha, umm well I am very excited to have a medium to share my passion for music on even though no one will read this. Recently I haven't been desiring to listen to the usual bands I turn to and I've been getting into a lot of new, interesting and most importantly GOOD music. This includes The National, Mos Def, of Montreal, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Local Natives, etc. and I have some upcoming shows to brag about (sorry loryn!) including Vampire Weekend and The National. So hopefully we don't totally suck at writing compelling blog entries because it would be cool if we became adequate at this! Okay loryn's turn...
loryn: heeey. well, to start things out, i'm days away from 19, i live in the most exciting city in the continental us (not really), and i have a huge love and appreciation for music. i have quite the opinion when it comes to music and i get easily bothered by the musically ignorant..but really, what person with acceptable taste doesn't? in my opinion the most important musicians of our time are john frusciante and kevin barnes, and i refuse to be argued with over that (especially with the "umm, i think you mean thom yorke" arguers). today i bought the archandroid by janelle monae, which i must remind you has a song with of montreal. so far i like it a ton. i don't have any shows coming up, although i'm looking into the de luna festival in pensacola, and possibly a matt & kim show at the house of blues in new orleans. i mean it's $13, who wouldn't go? okay, well i could for real type for like ever, so i'm gonna stop. :)
note: Despite the fact that we are right next to each other, loryn made me look away as she typed her post....how mean!
